What's on my desk? Part 147.

Good morning!

Time flies. It's already the 27th... That means Modelist's 3rd birthday is in a couple of days! Saturday is the big day, so come visit.

Sunday November 1st, even though it's a holiday, is Koopzondag in Mechelen. We're open from 1 until 6, and there's also a candywalk. Visit all the participating shops and fill your bag with candy!

On to the models then, I don't have a whole lot to show you this week, mostly because of this:

That's right: my Strv103 has been masked for the first colour. Everything that will remain light green has been taped over. The next colour will be tan brown. There's not very much to paint in this colour, so I'll not need as much masking for that one. Following the tan, I'll need to spray dark green and (NATO) black. I'm trying to go light to dark, but I might do black first, then dark green to limit the amount of masking tape needed. We'll see.
You see some of the tape peeling off. The very thin tape doesn't always stick well enough and all the surface detail isn't helping. I expect a lot of corrections to do after I remove the tape.
The Hurricane underside was sprayed with Ammo Sky Type S. My Ammo thinner ran out and I've been having some issues finding a decent alternative (I found Mr. Hobby Levelling Thinner does the job). Which is why I airbrushed the brown colour with Tamiya XF-52. Tamiya sprays beautifully:
Nice thin flat coat, no issues with pooling or 'orange peel' effect. It just works.
I'll use masking putty to mark out the camouflage, then apply the green.
Which I also need to do with the Fairey Battle. The same problems I had with Ammo have plagued this plane, but Tamiya came to the rescue:
I've re-applied the brown, now on to masking and a new coat of green. We'll get there!
Finally, I've planked one whole side of the Jolie Brise:
It's not looking like much at the moment. I still have 7 or 8 planks to do on the other side, then I can start sanding, filling and sanding more. With a bit of paint I'm confident it will look good!
That's it for now.
See you next week!
