What's on my desk? Part 141.
Hello and welcome!
Short post today. I've made some good progress on some labour-intensive things.
Remember: no build meet tomorrow!
First off, the Fairey Battle. I fixed the wings and tailplanes, filled the gaps with Plastic Putty, and then started masking the canopy. The frames are quite prominent, so for every window pane, I take a small piece of Tamiya tape, use a toothpick to push it down against the frames, then with a fresh, sharp knife I cut away the excess tape. Takes a bit of work, but for me it's essential, as I can't paint a straight line if my life depended on it, and this way I can just airbrush it:
I'll take a look at the bomb bays and landing gear to see what I need to keep apart and paint separately, but this one is moving along nicely.
I can't say the same for the Jolie Brise. It seems like 'm doing one plank a week. As you can see, I'm improvising clamps to keep the planks in place while the glue dries. I keep forgetting to go to AVA or so to pick up thumb tacks. Looking around on the internet, that's how the pro's do it: put a tack either side of the plank, and the edge of the pin will keep the plank down.
Finally, the Strv103. I received a set of plastic individual link tracks. There are 58 links per side and they click together on small nubs. It's only a matter of cutting off and cleaning up the links, then assembling them:
I test-fitted the tracks around the wheels and the length looks correct. I also fixed the light guards after painting the inside on the sprue, which is why they're still white on the outside:
