What's on my desk? Part 129.

Good morning!

Short blog post this week. All my projects are in the painting stage, and it's so warm I can only airbrush in the mornings... I've airbrushed in 30+ temperatures in the past, and the chance of getting a 'sandpaper' finish on your paint is real. Acrylic paints dry quickly, and when it's so hot, the paint has dried by the time it's travelled from the airbrush tip to the model.

Still, I've been able to do some work.

McLaren: I'm finally happy with the primer coat. I should now be able to spray the white paint. The 'Goodyear Eagle' decals have also been applied to the tires:

T-72: I airbrushed two colours green. Final colour is black. You can see the tape over the lighter green, I now need to mask off the darker green and it should be ready for black. I'm keeping lots of parts loose to ensure no white primer shines through in the end.
The wheels also have been painted. Now comes the most fun part: painting the tires...
Finally, I acccepted a commission to airbrush a gloss coat over a 1/14 truck body. The silver paint was already done by the customer. I masked off the silver to paint black areas (after testing on a backside part if my tape woudl come off cleanly again). All good, until I came to the left door and disaster struck. This is what can happen when you don't use primer:
So; find a decent colour match, repair that patch, apply gloss coat... Must be done this week.
That's all,
See you next week!
