What's on my desk? Part 128.

Hello and welcome,

The weather forecast changes by the day, so it may be best to stay inside and work on your models!

That's what I've been doing. :-)

I had some trouble with my airbrushes lately, so I gave them a good clean. I also upped the pressure I'm spraying at so the paints, primers and varnishes atomize better. I'm already getting far better results!

My T-72 is now completely primed. It's awaiting application of the first (light green) colour, which will be Mr.Colour H-303. The tracks were primed and then painted with Ammo Rust Tracks (a colour that's disappeared from the new ATOM lineup, so the ones I have left are the last ones...). This is a good base for further weathering:

I've also made good progress on the McLaren. I sanded off the seam line from the tires, then inserted some cotton wool and pushed in the rims:
The brakes were added and the air scoop on top of the engine was painted and installed. Some small decals were applied to the inner body:
Finally, the engine side walls are separate pieces. I had an inkling that I'd need to fill the contact lines when I glued them, and I was proven right:
All the grey stuff is putty that will need a good sanding to get it smooth. Masking and painting these will be fun...

Taking to the air, the Viggen has been panel lined. I used Ammo-Mig Panel Line Washes: Blue Grey on the underside and Green Brown on top. On the darkest green areas it doesn't really come through, but it's there:

I've also used Starship Filth oilbrusher to shade a few panel lines and the flaps/ailerons hinge line. Just put a few drops on the rear side, then blend it in with a clean brush. It adds a subtle dirtyness to the paint finish. To really make it stand out, you can use white oil on the opposite side of the panel line (although that's more for grey planes). I might try and see what effect Medium Grey gives... The paint finish is still glossy, so if it doesn't work out, I can still wipe it off.
Finally, those that follow my Instagram account may have seen this kit pass by:

Yes, I sold it, and yes, I bought another one for myself! That's how impressed i was with the kit (I'm also a big fan of the British in WW2). I've started priming and pre-assembling the cockpit:
As you can see, Magic Factory provide both detailed consoles and flat ones, in case you want to use (3D printed) decals. I was looking at the very nice Quinta 3D cockpit decals, but they're in Kazakhstan and their website doesn't work if you're trying to order from Europe...
So I'll be painting these parts. Hopefully I can make them pop.
That's all for now.
See you next week!
