What's on my desk? Part 125.

Good morning on this bright sunny day!

Sunday is Scaleworld! I'm looking forward to it. I've already pre-registered my Bloch, so if you're coming to Geel, keep an eye out for the red and yellow stripes.

I still had to attach the engine exhausts (under the nose). The wrong parts are called out in the instructions, but I found and installed the correct ones.
I then fixed the propeller and gave it an overall coat of Satin Varnish, then glued in the landing and navigation lights (which I painted green and red).
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
No news on the Viggen this week. I have fixed the metal overspray on the intake, it now needs a gloss coat for decalling and weathering.
The Tamiya McLaren is a kit from 1990, and one area where that is quite obvious is in the knockout marks. All the wing panels have two or more marks that need to be filled:
All of these are on inside or underside surfaces, but it's definitely still worth the effort to remove them. I puttied every circle, then used some coarse (400) sandpaper to wet-sand them. The upshot of grey putty on white plastic is that you can easily see when you've sanded away enough of the excess:
The downside will be in priming. It will take an extra layer of white primer to make the grey dots disappear.
I glued the nose and cockpit, and dirtied up the radiator grilles and engine:
The engine is still loose in the picture.
With the panels sanded and the bottom of the vehicle almost finished, I can start priming and painting the body itself. Stay tuned!
Finally, work on the T-72 has been going along nicely.
The turret interior is now fully done. All the separate parts have been painted, weathered and installed. I can leave the turret halves loose to show off the detail.
When put together, you can see how cramped the turret is:
The turret floor also is pretty busy:
I've also worked on the outside of the turret. The smoke grenade launchers are all separate parts. I will open up the hatches after painting is done.
The white primer on the turret is overspray from the interior painting. Obviously this isn't a full coat yet.
I've ordered a decal set for Finnish T-72s. The Amusing Hobby box only includes roundels, no numbers or other markings. I found a set of resin headlight covers as well, because as you can see the multi-part items in the box aren't very realistic.
See you next week!
