What's on my desk? Part 123.

Good morning!
Bit of a dreary morning, but let's hope the weather improves for the Braderie this weekend!
- On Thursday I'm just going to open the shop. I can continue work on my models and if anyone needs supplies for a long weekend, I'm here! The 1000km bike ride for Kom Op Tegen Kanker is starting from the Grote Markt, so if you want to support the participating riders, come to Mechelen!
- There are still open spots for the airbrush workshop on May 24th. Send an email to register.
- Build meet this week on Wednesday, next week on Tuesday (19th)!
Alright, let's see what I've been up to last week.
First off, the Bloch 152. Propeller was painted black, weathered and received the manufacturer's badges:
Weathering was done in four steps: 1. Aluminium basecoat, 2. Scratches fluid, 3. Airbrush black, 4. rub off black paint with a hard brush & toothpick.
Now obviously the propeller is a lot more weathered than the rest of the plane, so I'll need to do some chipping by brush. The guns and pitot tube still need to be painted and installed, then a satin coat and done!
T-72: So far I've managed to keep the roof loose, by glueing the fenders to the glacis plate only. Hopefully I can do something similar with the engine deck.
The turret interior is coming along nicely. I've installed all of the pieces that need to be white(-ish), so I can paint these all in one go:
The gun base will be green, so I've put it together as well. I've kept the breech separate so I can paint it in more detail:
You can see there were some knockout marks on the inside that needed to be filled.
Finally, the Viggen has received its splinter camo. This is the state after the final colour was sprayed:
Lots of masking stickers, with the joining lines taped over.
At this point in time, it's Schrödinger's Viggen. As long as I don't remove the masks, the camo can either be perfect or a complete mess...
After working up the courage, I removed the masks and...
the result is pretty good!
Just a few areas to clean up, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Next up: respray the landing gear bays, and all wing surfaces need a black leading edge. So: more masking!
I'll try and concentrate a bit on the McLaren this week. I've been idle with it for too long...
See you next week!
