What's on my desk? Part 109.

Good morning,

It's a rainy day, with more coming. At least the temperatures are going up somewhat... which means perfect modelling weather!

Reminder: airbrush basics workshop on Sunday. If you're interested, please register. No walk-ins!

Walk-ins are very definitely welcome on Wednesdays, from 18.45 until 21.00, as the build meets are still going strong.

On to the builds, then.

First off, the Bergepanther is nearing completion. I've laid out a lot of stowage to add to the box. Some clutter added to a tank always makes it feel lived in.

Some of it, like the jerrycans, towing gear, welding cans and spare wheels, are included in the kit but not really mentioned in the instructions. They're nice extras and are really useful.
The big wood box, beer & schnaps bottles and the kitty are resin after-market parts.
I've painted the box and house panther in oils, which aren't dry yet. The big wood unditching block is also finished and mounted to the side.
I shifted the parts around a bit to figure out how the crew would have stowed them. I actually made a mistake mounting the crane. It would have been better to show it stowed away. But as it requires separate parts for the mountings, removing it again is not really possible without damaging my paint work. The boom also can't be stowed in its intended place because the mast is in the way...
So I decided the story here is the crew had finished using the crane, and were then called away to somewhere nearby. So they didn't break down the entire crane, just dismounted the boom and threw it in the box for the short trip.
Once the positions were decided I glued the wheels, jerrycans and the crane boom to the floor. These fixed, I then used a piece of thin paper and VMS 'Paper Shaper' to drape a tarpaulin over them:
I've mentioned VMS before, and this is one more excellent product from the company. It softens the paper and while drying fixes it in a natural shape. Just needs painting.
I need to wait for the oils to dry before I can position the rest of the clutter. Still on schedule for MKB...
Ford Focus: I've applied an oil filter (general wash) to bring out some of the detail, then sprayed a Satin Varnish. I brush painted some matt varnish over the seat belts in an attempt to give them a bit more texture and glued the seats in place. I painted and decalled the spare wheel and put that in place, too:
Now suddenly the interior is very busy, especially when you mount the roll cage:
Next step: finishing the dashboard and side panels, and painting the car body. To be  continued...
That's it already.
See you next week!
