What's on my desk? Part 107.

Hello and welcome!

There was some big news last week from Airfix. The British company has announced their lineup of releases for 2026. Lots of reissues and vintage kits (that I personally don't really like very much), and some very welcome new releases for airplane enthousiasts.

In 1/72 they're releasing a new mold Canberra and Ju52/3m, and in 1/48 a highly anticipated Royal Navy Phantom FG.1.

A British ground vehicle was also announced, in the form of the Alvis Saracen in 1/35 scale. This last one is mostly known to me as the typical British APC during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

A re-release I'm looking forward to is the English Electric Lightning in 1/48. Very distinctive due to the placement of the two jet engines; one on top of the other.

On to my own work, then.

I've been kept busy painting these guys for a customer:

They're Space King figures, a (very not-safe-for-work or children) cartoon series on YouTube parodying the Warhammer universe.

A lot of work goes into the figures, so my work on the Bergepanther has been going slow. I've fixed the crane tripod and painted the tow bars on the engine deck. The fasteners for the spade still need painting. I'm trying to figure out if I can leave the spade loose, allowing to show it deployed or folded.

The tow cables have also been primed:
One of the things I don't like very much is painting all the tools fastened on German vehicles. It's a lot of small parts all needing multiple colours. This being an engineering/recovery vehicle, the amount of tools is almost doubled. I'll try to get them all done this week...

Ford Focus time! I've attached the suspension parts and exhaust on the underside:

Rally cars can get pretty dirty, but I'll build it relatively clean, so I'll just lightly weather it (particularly a wash to bring out the detail).
I've also worked on the interior. Mostly picking out some detail painting. The rack for the spare wheel is still loose. Here as well I'll just apply a light wash to bring out the detail.
Apart from the seats, dashboard, side panels and roll cage this is about it for the interior. Very sparse, in order to save weight.
That's it already.
See you next week!
